History Blogger Jonathan Berg Tours St. Maarten / St. Martin

St. Maarten / St. Martin had the pleasure of being visited by well-known history travel writer Jonathan Berg of the Royal Tour Blog this week.

With St. Maarten’s second oldest hotel Seaview and “sleeping in history” Pasture Piece plantation house as his befitting bases of operation, he managed to explore all three island museums and a wide variety of island monuments, amongst which the main island bulwarks Fort Amsterdam and Fort Louis.

Under expert guidance of head of culture department Clara Reyes, archeologist Jay Haviser and writer Mark Yokoyama, Berg amongst others created an itinerary around the two defining spices of St. Maarten, salt and sugar. Work also met leisure by his participation in the Trisport city tour, exploring the various monuments in Philipsburg reminding of its time as important salt port in the olden days. In the evenings, Berg’s route included many of the Lolo’s on island.

Berg announced he will write no less than six stories about his stay. Follow his Royal Tour Blog for in-depth stories about his itinerary for fans of history.
