Full Itinerary For A Great Kim Sha Beach Day (Stayover)

With so many beaches, bars, and restaurants to choose from on St. Maarten / St. Martin, creating your perfect beach day can be an interesting puzzle of its own. Below is a suggested itinerary to spend a day at Kim Sha Beach — not one of the largest, but certainly one of the most fun beaches on the island.

9am: Breakfast at Zeebest

If “go where the locals go” is an adage you live by, you can’t go wrong with Zeebest. This popular and affordable breakfast hub, right off busy Airport Road, has a quiet terrace and a large menu to choose from to get your beach day started.

10:30am: Feet in the Water (or on a Beach Chair) at Buccaneer

Buccaneer Beach Bar is the landmark beach club of Kim Sha Beach. Especially between December and May, ensure you make a reservation for a beach chair if you desire one. Food — from barbecue to pizza — is always available, whether on the beach or inside the lively beach club itself.

12:30pm: Lunch at the Beach

From barbecue to pizza, Buccaneer can provide a wide variety of lunch options to its visitors.

3pm: Optional Activity to Cool Off

Temperatures rise on an average Caribbean beach day after lunch. If you’re looking for an afternoon activity near the beach, here are some suggestions within walking distance:

  1. Take out a right on the beach and explore the turquoise waters.
  2. See how Caribbean rum is made at Topper’s. Make sure to book one of their (tasty and guided) Rum Tours.

4–6pm: See the Sunset

Buccaneer Beach Bar has a fun selfie spot — a big St. Maarten heart for photos! Enjoy a very Caribbean sunset, take a cocktail, and keep some space for dinner nearby.

7pm: Out for Dinner!

Kim Sha Beach is surrounded by a variety of great food options within half a mile. Think of Mexican foodie spot La Patrona, Topper’s restaurant, Mediterranean multi-menu Al Pasha, and Lebanese culinary hotspot Beirut.

9pm: Nightlife!

The area around Kim Sha Beach is one of the most vibrant on the island. St. Maarten is known as one of the safest islands to go out, even for solo travelers. Lively cafes like Huppel The Pub and Replay, and clubs like Lotus are well-known spots to stay out late.
