SAFETY GUIDELINES HEINEKEN REGATTA

 

From March 2nd until March 5th, the annual Sint Maarten Heineken Regatta took place on the island. The big sailing event attracted over 20000 people to participate, spectate or celebrate during the race. The race took place in the waters of the Dutch side as well as the French side of Saint Martin.

 

A declaration of nautical event was registered by the Territorial Unit of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy of the Direction of the Sea of ​​Guadeloupe and implies the visa presents in particular the routes scheduled during the various days of competition. The National Navy, the maritime customs and the direction of the sea are ensuring maritime safety.

 

The Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin communicated to all the involved parties the following guidelines to guarantee a safe course of events:

 

– Spectators of this regatta are requested to respect a sufficient distance from competing vessels or from the race committee’s vessels;

 

– It is forbidden for any nautical means (ship, windsurfing, kite-surfing, jet ski or any other type of boat) to use the maritime routes taken by the participants of this regatta at the time of their passage;

 

– Any violation found will be subject to the penalties provided for in particular by the transport code and the sports code.
