On the location of the oldest settlement on the island between Fort William and Fort Amsterdam, one finds Little Bay Beach. Little Bay Beach lies on the southwestern coast of the Dutch side of Sint Maarten, in the Little Bay area near Philipsburg. The beach is protected from open-sea swells by the peninsula hosting Fort Amsterdam and separated from nearby Great Bay — resulting in calm, clear waters and a gently shelving sandy bottom that make it especially suitable for families and swimmers.
