Divi Little Bay was the first resort in St. Maarten and remains one of the island’s flagship resorts, continuously adapting to the latest trends in hospitality. The resort is located on the site of St. Maarten’s first Dutch settlement. Shortly after construction was completed in the late 1960s, the resort was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix, the first of many royal guests and celebrities who would visit the resort over the years. At the same time, the resort became known as a venue for events held for local residents. A commemorative plaque in the hotel lobby pays tribute to the island’s gratitude for the important role the resort has played in the development of tourism.
Over the years, Divi Little Bay has added bed & breakfast, timeshare and all-inclusive concepts to its expansive property, nestled on the Fort Amsterdam peninsula, to better cater to the needs and preferences of individual visitors. Its Oceans addition majestically towers over Little Bay and Great Bay, offering spectacular sunset views of both bays from its Mix Rooftop Bar.
Those interested in history can walk up to Fort Amsterdam, where the national bird, the brown pelican, is almost always in view. A large colony of these birds can be found on the fortress, which has even attracted a royal visit from King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
There is even more to explore beneath the turquoise waters of Little Bay. Sea Trek takes visitors a level deeper into this beautiful snorkeling destination, while Aquamania offers the opportunity to discover fascinating underwater sculptures and beach packages.
Last but not least, any visitor will be charmed by the commanding view of the resort to the north, where views of Philipsburg unfold. The cruise ships with arriving and departing one day cruise visitors on the opposite side of the bay provide a scenic addition to the Divi panoramas – be it from your Little Bay beach chair or all the way up at Mix.
