Incoming news: View face of  the new Director of the St Maarten Governor’s Cabinet


Constitutional and administrative law expert Gerhard Hoogers will take on the role of Director of the St Maarten Governor’s Cabinet. Hoogers currently works in The Netherlands at the University of Groningen and also maintains associations with the Carl von Ossietzky-Universität in Oldenburg, Germany. Additional to that, Hoogers works part-time as a senior constitutional advisor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate & the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Nitrogen in The Hague.


The Cabinet of the Governor of St Maarten is an independent entity within the Dutch government. The Director of the Governor’s Cabinet has to provide support to the Governor in various capacities, including policy, legislation and implementation. Hoogers appointment for the new Director has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations, as he will bring his comprehensive expertise in constitutional law and the constitutional matters of St Maarten to his new role. Gerhard Hoogers will succeed the current Director Mieke Kalter on the 1st of December.
