SHTA Congratulates Roy van Zutphen on winning “EPIC Islands Photo Contest”

The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA) congratulates Roy van Zutphen of WeAreSXM with winning the “EPIC Islands Photo Contest” organized by Environmental Protection In The Caribbean (EPIC). His picture of a sailing boat making its way through the Caribbean waters between St. Maarten and St. Barths won the prestigious regional award in the “Journey Through The Island” category. Apart from highlighting a sustainable way of Caribbean travel, it underlines the quality of the island as premier Caribbean yachting destination in the process.

EPIC has for a long time been a vital organization for nature protection on St. Maarten, amongst many other projects when it pertains to safeguarding pelican populations, mangroves and key biodiversity areas. SHTA has supported EPIC’s great work for over a decade with its Green Key and Blue Flag Program, and ensuring complimentary presence on the St. Maarten / St. Martin Annual Tradeshow (SMART) to have the NGO spread the message of sustainable tourism amongst the many players present.
