ST. MAARTEN HEINEKEN REGATTA HAS COME TO AN END

 

 

The 43rd edition of the St Maarten Heineken Regatta has come to an end. Over 100 sailing boats participating in fighting each other on the water, but then enjoy the life on land after the races. This year conditions were really good because the wind was favorable, the water was warm and translucent. This caused a lot of joy with the sailors.

 

 

The 100 boats who signed up for the Regatta, were divided in 14 classes and 3 classes of multihulls. One of the goals of the Heineken Regatta is to bring together all kinds of different sailing ships. Apart from the races, there was a lot of entertainment for the participants as well as other visitors/spectators. Namely at the Heineken Regatta village at Port de Plaisance sailors could go to after the race to enjoy entertainment, food and ice cold Heinekens. There were also a lot of other events across the island. One of them was on the French side of the island at the beach of Orient Bay.

 

 

Despite all the parties, the participants had to be at the famous lifting bridge in Simpson Bay to start of their racing days. Races mostly went to St. Barths or along St. Maarten. The highlight of the Regatta was the tour the island race.
