St. Maarten One Day Cruise Visit Itinerary “Tintamarre & Pinel with Private Yacht Charter”

Amongst the many ports of call along your cruise itinerary you might be looking for a day away from the crowds in your day trip choice. When in port on St. Maarten, one way to do so is by renting a captained private sailing yacht charter. St. Maarten / St. Martin is amidst a large archipelago waiting for island hopping. There is a variety of inhabited and uninhabited islands to be visited around the island.

If you are eager to do an off the beaten track tour like that, consider a day visit to some of the many scenic uninhabited islands around St. Maarten like sea turtle haven Tintamarre or local favorite hotspot Pinel island. Below you find a suggested travel plan to hand over to your captain of Private Yacht Charter. This company is specialized in private day charters departing from Bobby’s Marina, a ten to fifteen minutes walk from the cruise port. If you are early and in need of a breakfast, locally popular Chesterfields is en route.

Your tour is scheduled to depart at 9am, but you can discuss later departures as you decide on the route.

Your ship will charter its way around impressive cape Point Blanche on its way to the Atlantic, where both Tintamarre and Pinel are located. Alongside your nautical voyage you will have scenic views of Dawn Beach, Oyster Bay Beach and Le Galion.

Tintamarre used to be inhabited and even had an airport on it. Of both episodes, ruins remain that you can discover during a short walk. Your catamaran is to dock at its pristine west side beach, a picture perfect Caribbean sandy shore. During your visit, you have a fair chance of spotting sea turtles. Green, leatherback and (more rarely) loggerhead turtles can be spotted here whilst snorkeling. As turtles don’t make appointments, do not be disappointed when they don’t show up during your excursion. In any regards, treat their home island, a nature reserve, with respect.

Lunch can be provided on board, but you can also enjoy such at one of the two beach clubs on your next island of choice. Pinel is also a nature reserve worth some exploration. You are bound to run into iguanas along your short walking tour of this tiny island named after a pirate that stranded here. Though you will be anchoring at its pristine beach facing the island, take time to see Pinels beautiful Atlantic beach too. For lunch and beach chairs, ensure you make a reservation at either Karibuni or Yellow Beach. This is especially important during the high season from December to May.

Though it is always advised to be back on your cruise ship timely, it could be that you still have some time to spare when you arrive back in the Philipsburg marina. Explore the town boardwalk for a short pub crawl or take a dip on its Great Bay Beach before you walk back for fifteen minutes or take a taxi from the Emmaplein stand near the cannon at the end of the boardwalk.
