Driving Difference – An Interview With Tania Bolton (Dynaf)

As part of as a series of islander interviews with people powering tourism and the wider economy, Tania Bolton’s interview fits in literally. As a Sales Manager at Dynaf Sint Maarten, Tania Bolton operates at the intersection of client needs and the island’s evolving energy landscape.

Bolton: “What I find most rewarding about my role is being part of something truly meaningful and impactful within the market. It’s inspiring to witness the growth and potential of green energy across the Caribbean, and to contribute to a transition that will shape a more sustainable future for the region.”

Her role is hands-on and market-facing, working closely with businesses and individuals looking to transition toward more efficient and sustainable energy solutions. In a region where energy costs and environmental concerns are both pressing realities, Dynaf has positioned itself as a key player in supporting greener alternatives, particularly in solar and backup power systems.

Tania’s approach to clients reflects both clarity and creativity. “I am naturally drawn to complex challenges and like to focus on finding practical, thoughtful solutions that work in real conditions.” Her style is collaborative rather than transactional, building relationships that extend beyond a single sale.

Beyond the office: advocacy and perspective

Within her team, she is known as a unifying presence, someone who encourages others and contributes to a positive working environment. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Tania is also deeply committed to inclusion. She speaks openly about the importance of awareness around autism, emphasizing that real inclusion requires more than acknowledgment.

“I believe that true inclusion extends beyond awareness—it requires empathy, education, and intentional action to create environments where individuals of all neurotypes feel valued and supported.”
Her broader outlook embraces diversity in all forms, from gender to identity, seeing it as a strength that builds stronger communities and drives innovation.

Finding quiet corners and familiar shores

Life on Sint Maarten offers its own rhythm, and Tania has found places that allow her to disconnect from the pace of work. Quiet stretches in Guana Bay and along Simpson Bay Beach are where she goes to reset.
“There’s a quiet spot I often return to for meditation, where I can simply unwind and take in the soothing sound of the waves.”

Among the island’s many beaches, Grand Case stands out for more personal reasons. Its atmosphere reminds her of Aruba, where she grew up, bringing a sense of familiarity that feels close to home.

And an island day off? Her next staycation choice would be Morgan Resort, while everyday errands might take her to Carrefour Supermarket or shopping along Front Street.

Local flavors, energy, and island experiences

For visitors wanting a relaxed but authentic experience, Tania points to the Simpson Bay Food Court, where the mix of food and atmosphere reflects everyday island life. For something more refined, she often gravitates toward the French side’s restaurants.

When it comes to activities, she keeps it simple. The Rainforest Adventure zipline stands out as something visitors should not miss. A place that captures the island’s story, in her view, is the Philipsburg Boardwalk. What began as a simple beachfront path has grown into a lively cultural space, now lined with murals and local art that reflect Sint Maarten’s identity and history.
“It is more than just a scenic promenade; it is a celebration of culture, community, and progress.”

Personal favorites and island rhythms

Tania’s island routine includes a few personal staples. She enjoys wine and champagne, often heading to Le Goût de Vin to explore different selections. For a more laid-back setting, Buccaneers Beach Bar remains a favorite, partly for its history in her own life.

“It was the first bar I started going to since I migrated here from Aruba… there’s always an interesting mix of people.”
She points to Sint Maarten Carnival as the island’s most vibrant annual moment, where music, food, and creativity come together.

Her appreciation for the island extends to its diversity. “Sint Maarten offers a beautiful fusion of Caribbean cultures… there is an unmistakable sense of openness and warmth.” Among local figures, she highlights Clara Reyes for her dedication to preserving heritage and shaping national identity.

A place of opportunity

Tania’s connection to Sint Maarten is rooted in experience as much as perspective. One of her earliest memories of the island was a trip with friends, defined by its energy and social life. Over time, that initial impression deepened into something more meaningful.

“The sense of opportunity and cultural acceptance that the island has embraced me with has been truly remarkable.”

She encourages visitors to look beyond the obvious. The island’s lesser-known hiking trails, tucked away from busier areas, offer a different way to experience its natural beauty.

In the end, what stands out most to her is the balance the island offers. A place where professional growth, cultural diversity, and everyday life come together in a way that feels both dynamic and grounded.
