SOUALIGA NEWSDAY: GOVERNOR BALY: “THE SPIRIT OF THE TREATY OF CONCORDIA”

375 YEARS OF PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN ST MAARTEN

 

 

His excellency governor A. Baly spoke and congratulated the people of St Maarten with the 375th anniversary of the Treaty of Concordia. The treaty of Concordia is the agreement between the Dutch side and the French side of the St Maarten island to have an alliance, and cooperatively ensure that St Maarten successfully prospers and for both sides to live in peace with each other.

 

 

“Tightly knit from Dutch Hope Estate to French Hope Estate, from French Quarter to Dutch Quarter and from Great Bay to Grand Case. A people so tightly knit that, as the saying goes, when one side sneezes the other catches a cold”, Governor Baly stated. His excellency also talks about his desires to continue to act upon the treaty and rely on its safety & security and social and economic benefits. He ended his speech with blessing the village and its people.
