Nature is everywhere on St. Maarten / St. Martin, even in bustling capital Philipsburg. That is what Seaview Beach Hotel seemingly wants to share with this beautiful picture of a massive tree in Backstreet that probably goes unnoticed for most passing by.
It is often these alleys, or “stegen” in Dutch that not just show a glimpse of Philipsburg’s nature, but also of its olden days and tranquillity. It is here where you find the local museum, and a variety of murals depicting local culture and history. Often, as they would in the past, chickens still roam freely.
