THE DAILY HERALD: LARGE TURNOUT OF SPECTATORS FOR SUNDAY’S ADULT CARNIVAL PARADE

CARNIVAL ST MARTIN

From February 10 until February 21, Carnival took place on the French side of St Maarten. For one and a half weeks, there are parades, parties and other events occurring in St. Martin. One week ago was the children’s parade, last Sunday the adult Parade took place.

Starting from Agrément roundabout, proceeding along Rue de Hollande, Rue de la République, Rue de la Liberté, Rue Kennedy, Rue Lowtown, Bellevue and returning along Rue de Hollande to the finish, seven participating troupes brought color and joy to the streets of Marigot once more.

The locomotiv band took the lead in the parade, followed by many more such as Miss Saint-Martin and Miss St. Barths, as well as many others. Only one thing that was slightly different this year than the others, is that there was no judging panel and choreography segment on Rue de la République as well as no presenter. What did happened on the other hand is that Motorworld showed of three of their new line of cars called Changan cars from China.

There was also a quite tense moment when the first huge music truck had a hard time making the curve into Rue de la Liberté. But after three tries the truck succeeded and received an applause from the crowd.
