SOUALIGA NEWSDAY: THE SMYC IS PREPARING FOR THE 6TH ANNUAL DOMINO’S INTERSCHOOL SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP ON MAY 14
SCHOOL VS SCHOOL SAILING COMPETITION
The Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) announces the 6th annual “Domino’s Interschool Dinghy Sailing Championship”. The event will take place on Sunday, May 14th. Domino’s Pizza sponsors the event, which leads to there being no costs or entry fee involved. Furthermore, it is an open event to all schools on the island of St Maarten that has sailors.
Normally, participants battle each other individually. This time, teams are formed within the schools. So, during the event it is school vs school. There are 11 schools participating with a total amount of 53 participants.
The race will be divided in four classes, and the goal is to eventually take home the Overall Trophy for the best school. There will also be individual trophies for the best 3 in each class. The goal of the event is to draw more attention to the sport of sailing and gain more recognition for the kids who play the sport.
