LOOP NEWS: DEPARTURE HALL AT PRINCESS JULIANA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SXM) IS OPENING SOON

St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) undergoes multiple reconstructions

The Princess Juliana International Airport Operating Company N.V. (PJIAE) is pleased to announce an update on the near completion of the reconstruction of the Departure Hall, which started in September 2021. The new hall will be operational by the 1st of November 2023. There will also be a reconstructed Check-in Hall, which should be finished by December 2023. The new Departure Hall will show its remarkable and refined interior, featuring a terrazzo flooring and newly installed elevators, to enhance the flow of the passengers.

After this project, the attention will shift to the enhancement of the arrival hall of the airport. The PJIAE just wants to make sure that the reconstruction projects do not disturb the travelers and meets the rules of the industry. They expect to finish the construction of the Arrival Hall by the middle of 2024, just before the summer travel season starts. The step-by-step approach of the reconstructing shows how PJIAE is dedicated to enhance its standards to match top-level airport standards, while adjusting to the changing demands of the aviation industry. It is all about making the airport a place where it is easy and comfortable for travelers to travel, when they go beyond the Caribbean region.
