Beach of the Week: Lovers Beach
Lovers Beach is one of the most hidden and secluded spots on the island of St. Maarten. Located just south of Friar’s Bay on the French side. It earned its romantic name thanks to its isolation and small size, it is said that only two people can comfortably fit on the sand at once. From the shoreline, you can see the nearby island of Anguilla just seven kilometers away across the water.
To find Lovers Beach, head toward Friar’s Bay. When you reach the bridge, turn left instead of right. At the end of the road, you’ll find a place to park near a rusty gate. This is where the walk begins, two footpaths lead down to the beach from there, both offering access to this quiet, natural hideaway. There are no amenities or shops nearby, so visitors should come prepared and be mindful to leave no trace.
