15th Annual SXM Wahoo Tournament Set for October 30 and 31
The 15th Annual SXM Wahoo Tournament will take place at Dock Maarten in St. Maarten on October 30 and 31, 2026. The event is organized by the St. Maarten Sportfishing Foundation (SSFF) and brings another edition of the annual fishing tournament to the island.
The SSFF was founded in April 2008 by fishing enthusiasts Sergio Hodge, Dean Hodge Jr. and Mark Anthony. They were encouraged by members of the previously known St. Maarten Big Game Fishing Foundation, including Robby Cijntje, Rickey Lawrence and the late Egbert “Slim” Richardson, to continue their work. The first fishing tournament organized by the new foundation was held in November 2008.
That first event was a success, and the tournament has since attracted fishermen from St. Maarten and the wider region each November. Participants compete for prizes and bragging rights, with the event taking place during the wahoo season.
Tournament Schedule
The 2026 tournament activities will take place over two days:
October 30: Registration and Skippers Briefing
October 31: Fishing Day
