Along the north side of Marigot’s petite lighthouse, Galisbay beach stretches as a boulevard in the direction of Grand Case. A great location for an evening walk before having a bite in the old town. Galisbay is also a perfect beach for a Sunday Sunset.

Galisbay Beach lies on the west side of the island near the town of Marigot, in the area known as Galisbay (Saint‑Martin). Its setting is that of a small bay along the bay of Marigot, with views of the old‑town harbour including moored sailboats and occasional boat traffic. The beach is relatively modest in size and often quieter than major resort beaches, making it a popular spot for calm strolls, sunset views, and relaxed downtime rather than busy tourism activity.
Historically the area is overlooked by the ruins of Fort Louis, a former defensive tower — the remains of which serve as a scenic backdrop for the coastline at Galisbay. Under some conditions — especially when water circulation is poor — swimming and other water activities may be restricted; such restrictions have been enacted recently due to water‑quality concerns or heavy-rain‑related outlet openings.
Galisbay Beach is in the Marigot taxi zone. See our overview of St. Maarten taxi rates to find pricing from this location to your place of departure.
To reach Galisbay Beach without taking a taxi, take a minibus from Philipsburg to Marigot, then transfer to another bus heading toward the beach. Both buses run frequently throughout the day.
