Greenhouse Restaurant – The original Greenhouse is in Bobby’s Marina at the head of Philipsburg with a glorious view across Great Bay to the hills in the distance. In the spring of 2009 a new Greenhouse opened in Simpson Bay. Both locations have regular events, such as lobster night and Alaskan King Crab Night, and throw a party for almost any event.

Val, Sheer’s creator, promises to bring a sumptuous elegant and upscale experience to Philipsburg’s main shopping area. Its cuisine is called a fusion of European and Asian influences, with a touch of Caribbean flair.

Sopranos – Sopranos Restaurant allows you to indulge in fine Italian pizzas, pastas or just about any of your culinary cravings. Put some pizzazz into your life at Sopranos Piano Bar and Sopranos Restaurant, two swanky air-conditioned enclaves located in the Maho Plaza.

Jimbo’s – has grown into the best Gourmet Mexican restaurant on the island, playing great tunes, serving up fresh Mexican food and fun drinks and packing in old familiar faces and new friends every day for lunch and dinner.

Temptation – The name may sound like a strip club, but this innovative gem is one of the finest restaurants on island. The Owner/chef Dino Jagtiani, hails from a multigenerational East Indian family. Dino’s “nouvelle Caribbean” cuisine, is exciting even unusual, often utilizing unorthodox pairings.

Sea Turtle Nesting Season in St. Maarten

2010
04.06

Sea Turtle Nesting Season (March through November) is off to a good start here on St. Maarten with a 1,6 meter leatherback sea turtle nesting on one of St. Maarten’s most important turtle nesting beaches this past evening Tuesday March 30th, 2010.  St. Maarten Pride Foundation and Nature Foundation representatives were at hand to witness the event and ensure the turtle was not disturbed.

Turtles crawl up on beaches to lay their eggs, which may take up to 2 months to hatch, in the sand . To facilitate sucessful nesting and hatching please:

- Remove beach furniture or place it high up on the beach.
- Do not litter.
- Avoid having lights shine towards the beach area or reduce lights during nesting season.
- Do not drive on beaches.
- Do not stick umbrellas or torches in the sand.
- Keep pets on a leash and discourage your pet’s digging activities during nesting season.

Assist St. Maarten’s environmental organisations in protecting sea turtles by calling the Nature Foundation Sea Turtle Hotline number: 9229
Or PRIDE foundation on 5231188 and 5241516 whenever nesting or hatching activity is observed.
